Water Cooler.(And I think it would look better if it were correct.)įor my Lenovo products, the Lenovo serial number format is very similar to the Dell Service Tag format, but Lenovo definitely calls it a serial number.įor me personally it's not a big deal, but as it seemed to be a design issue, I thought I would bring it to your team's attention. I knew what was what because I entered them in, but someone else may get confused. ![]() (Unfortunately the Product Number is only shown on the "editable" version of the form.) What became an issue was seeing the serial number with a "Service Tag" label. There was no way I could find to enter both, so I entered the serial number in the serial number field, and typed the service tag in the Product number field so I would have it somewhere. However, I brought up this issue because 5 monitors I just received last week have both service tags and serial numbers. I can understand the reason behind the design choice. It's also not including Service Tag when populating the control. I'm wondering if the same query is used to populate the drop down list when selecting fields from the Devices table when creating a report. This may indicate a problem with the underlying query used to populate the form. Tag" field data (circled) is displaying the serial number. I also noticed that in the All Devices search, the list does not include Service Tag (boxed), and the "Svc. However, that doesn't explain why there is no field for the service tag, and why service tag doesn't appear when I am creating a report. It would appear the label is wrong on the form. Is that set to True or False? It is set to TRUE. The only thing I can think of (other than a wonky dell device) is that there's a setting that's borked.Ĭheck out Settings -> Network Scans -> Show Additional Settings -> For Windows use ComputerSystemProduct IdentifyingNumber before SystemEnclosure SerialNumber Oh, and for dell monitors and docking stations the SN's and the Asset Tags are not interchangeable. So, I thought to enter the Service Tag in the Product Number field, but the Product Number field doesn't show up on the form either. Also, there is no place to enter the actual Service Tag. When I entered the serial number in the Serial Number field on the "Create New Asset" form, and then save the new asset record, the serial number appears in the Service Tag field on the asset form. I discovered this while entering some new Dell monitors into inventory. I think these may be related because they both involve the "Service Tag" field. I can't create a report with the Service Tag field in a report based on devices. ![]() Problem 2: Unable to select Service Tag field under Columns to Display drop down list when creating a report. There is no other place to enter the actual service tag. I think I found two related bugs, so I'll enter them both here.ġ: After entering and saving a new inventory asset's serial number on the "Create a new Asset" form, the inventory item page appears and displays the serial number in the "Service Tag" field. ![]()
